it relates to the theme because, when he was opening the shell it might of been no money worth if there was no pearl. The reason hes looking for a pearl is for money to pay for the doctor bill, because the baby got stung by a scorpian & the doctor wont heal him until he gets money. So the doctor wants money because money buys his happiness.

Well this books theme is about if money can buy happiness and if there was no pearls and if the oyster had no pearls there's no money and without money they can't heal the baby. This relates to our life's because sometimes money can buy happiness but not all the time.

"An accident could happen to these oysters, a grain of sand could lie in the folds of muscle and irritate the flesh until in self-protection the flesh coated the grain with a layer of smooth cement" (16).
Pearls are created by accident, after the oyster is harmed. The defense mechanism for the oyster is to coat the harmful sand with a layer of plaster, which creates valuable pearls.
How does this text from the book hint at one of the themes of the story?
The theme in the story is "Can money buy happiness?" and in that sentence they just described how a Pearl is formed and what it feels like and looks like.
How can this relate to our lives?
Money can't buy happiness and it relates to our lives by you can't put a price tag on happiness.
What do u think, can money buy you happiness?

The sentence relates to the theme because, the theme is about can money buy happiness? The pearls there only chance to get coyotio his life back and get him strong again without the pearl he will be gone in no time, if there is the pearl in the oyster then there will be much happiness to the family and get there family back together that's why the pearl has to be kept safe and fine to get Kino the money he needs

There is a line in the book, The Pearl that says, "An accident could happen to these oysters... In self protection the flesh coated the grain with a layer of smooth cement. " this might be a hint to the main theme because if you think about in general, it could be saying you never know what's going to happen. Accidents happen and we can't help that. I think that because when you think of theme, it has to relate to everyone. It has to be universal and that theme I just came up with relates to everyone. Not just oysters. Oysters probably represent something else related to the theme in this story. What do you think the theme is in this book?

I think that the theme is that when something is annoying you should make the best of it. It says that the grain irritates the oyster so then they oyster starts to protect it and make it into a pearl. Like when my brother is annoying I just let him do it and then watch hime get yelled at by my parents.
What is irritating to you?

" and there it was lying in his hand, it was as big as a seagull egg"
It is important because it shows how important the pearl was to kino because he was exaggerating about how big it was.
What is important to you?

I see how money can buy happiness in this situation, it is nice that you thought of it in that way. Also I think that there is nothing a doctor can really do for someone in this situation, because they can only wait for the swelling and stuff to leave his body.

This statement relates to our theme because when something irritates us we do something to make something better and then when we do something positive happens. Just like the pearl

the sentence can tell you that maybe more bad, irritating things will happen to them but eventually good things will begin to happen. I can relate to this because when I snowboard I don't do what I'm trying to do right I keep trying to do it until I get it right. What do you think this sentence means?

The text hints the theme of the story because when something irritates the oaster it creates something beautiful out of it which is how the pearl is created. We can relate this to our life for example when something irritates you instead of letting it hurt you make something beautiful out of it. How can you find the good in your problems?

The sentence relates to the theme because the theme was money can't buy happiness, but in this case it did for kino. This accident that happened helped his family, it also had its bad part to like greed, and stuff but overall I think it will help. For example he needed money to get his son help so he could get better, and he found the pearl. What do you think is the theme in this book and why?

I think a theme for this sentence is "when life gives you lemons you make lemonade" because when sand gets in to the oyster it covers it in a film over and over again and it makes a pearl just like lemons. When you get lemons there sour until you make lemonade out of them. Basically when life is bad you can make it better like when kino found the pearl because he was poor in the beginning of the book and later on he finds the pearl and becomes rich. What makes your life better?

Chapter 2 post: "An accident could happen to these oysters...in self-protection the flesh coated the grain with a layer of smooth cement" (16). How does this text from the book hint at the themes of the story? How does this relate to our life?
This quote really sticks out to me because itdeals with our daily life's. As above it says "an accident could happen to these oysters" (16) this sentence sticks out a lot becasue, sometimes in our life bad and horrible things happen to us, but from there it creates something beautiful and better than before. Like the Pearl, when this bug enters their shell is creates a pearl, something beautiful and unique unlike anything else. So sometimes in our life bad things have to happen for a good reason to create someting new. How dose this sentence relate to our everyday life? And dose this represent the theme of this story?
