a symbol in chapter 3 is the pearl because it symbolizes happiness, the reason why the pearl makes them happy is because the can pay for school for coyotito and they can get the things they need.

I think that a symbol that's emerging is the Pearl because " Kinos fist closed over the pearl and emotion broke over him"(20). This symbolizes that Kino was happy that he found the pearl because he knew it would change his life. Also it can change cyotito's life because they can use the money to pay for cyotito's sickness.
What symbol do you pick? Why?

Symbols that are emerging in the pearl are "be grateful with what you have." I believe that's a big theme because Kino was a happy guy even though he was poor he had what he needed a family and a home, but when this pearl came to him he wanted more than he needed and was being cocky that he had more than others did. Which leads back to "can money buy happiness" it can but it will change a person so that's why I believe the pearl is a symbol.

I think that one big symbol emerging in this book is the pearl its self it seemed to bring joy to him and his family right when he found it, because Kino was going to be able to help his son get better but now that his son is better he is using it for greed things. Like he is bragging to his town people saying his child will never have to go to school again and how rich he will be, but this is not who he is I think that the pearl will symbolize evil. I think this because he cared about his people now it's just about him. For example he said to the towns people "My son will never have to learn". What symbols do you see emerging in the pearl?

One symbol in chapter three is the Pearl. It symbolizes greatfullness and how happy they are. Once Kino found the Pearl, he kept thinking about positive stuff and what stuff he could do with that Pearl to make everyone happy. It for him excited just thinking about it even. On page 28, it says "we will get married and we will get married now." That's because of what the Pearl is worth. In this case money could buy happiness but not all the time. He didn't buy his wife and he didn't buy his son yet they were still happy. But he can get married using this money from the Pearl. He wouldn't get married to her if he would of never met her. And he didn't pay to meet her so there, money can still, not buy happiness. What do you think? Can money buy happiness? Based on the paragraph above, answer the question, can money buy happieness?

What symbols are emerging? How do these symbols tie back to answering to two essential questions of this story?
Many symbols are emerging, but one that keeps coming back is scorpion, evil and music. I think those are the most important symbols in the pearl, even though there are many other symbols but those are the main ones.
I think that all the symbols do tie back to the essential question "What is true happiness" and I think that Kino as far as he can to have that happiness.

One symbol that I think is emerging is the pearl because it's symbolizing self control because the pearl seems to be driving him crazy and its brought nothing but bad luck so far my example from the text is "he felt cloth, struck at it with his knife and missed and struck again and felt his knife go through cloth" this shows how paranoid he is he's willing to stab a person just to protect it and it doesn't say he saw who it was so it could've been Juana but he was willing to risk a family members life for this pear that's why it symbolizes self control and kino is not handling it very well.

i think the pearl is a symbol. I think it represents evil and bad luck. Someone tried to steal the pearl and stabbed kino. I think that this shows that money doesn't buy happiness. What do you think?

the main symbol that is emerging is sin or danger because it says in thr book "there was a soft scurry in the doorway, running steps for a moment and then a silence."(18) then it says "this pearl is a sin! it will destroy us."(19) this relates to the question because for that person that broke into the house in the story trying to get the pearl that was going to be their happiness.

One symbol in the pearl is the doctor . The reason I think the dictor is a symbol is because he is greedy and his symbol Is that there are always people who are boing to take advantage of you . In the petal the doctor only wants the petal and when kino didn't have money the doctor wanted to nothing with him but now that kino has the petal the doctor helped them .

A symbol that's emerging from chapter three is the medicine. It symbolizes hope and security evidence to support that is on page 30 it says " he shifted his small black doctors bag about so that the light of the lamp fell upon it, for he knew that kino's race love the tools of any craft and trust them." Even the doctor knew that kino and his people had total faith in "medical tools". What's one thing that you believe in?

a symbol I found was the pearl. The pearl reasmbels delight and promise. On page (39) it says " so lovely it was , so soft and its own music came from it- it's music of promise and delight". What symbols do you see? Why dose that symbol mean?

One of the many symbols emerging in the pearl is the symbol of “song” over and over again, when coyotito says this he is usually talking about something good or bad, when bad things happen he talks about song. But i think this symbolizes a community coming together because over and over again he refers to “the song of my people”. So this word symbolzies a lot in this book and it refers to bringing the community of the village together.
